The Rock Hill High School Band Boosters offer two scholarships each year. Applications for these scholarships are accepted in May with the recipients being announced at the band banquet. The boosters are committed to further education of current and graduating members of the program.
Robert A. Ellwanger Scholarship
This scholarship is in honor of long time director Robert A. Ellwanger and is presented to a graduating senior to use towards college tuition. The member must be in good standing, been a member of the band program for a minimum of 6 semesters, and have an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher. Applications will include an essay that will be titled “What Band Has Meant to Me”. Essays will be judged anonymously by a non-partisan committee. The award will be a one time payment of $1,000 directly to the college or university.
Reggie Bernard Summer Camp Scholarship
This scholarship is in memory of Reggie Bernard, who was a percussionist in the RHHS band and suddenly passed away in the Fall of 2002. Reggie was loved by his teachers, classmates and friends. To honor his memory, a $1,000 annual scholarship fund was established to assist students who wish to attend a summer music camp such as the Western Carolina University or Music for All Summer Symposiums. Recipients are chosen based on musical excellence and service to the band program. Applications are accepted in May with winners being announced at the band banquet.
