Rock Hill High School Bands
Philosophy, Mission and Objectives
Philosophy
At Rock Hill High School, we strongly believe that music has the ability to enrich every person’s life in powerful and unique ways. Our primary goal is to foster the development of a life-long relationship with music in every student. Whether our students go on to be professional musicians, lawyers who play in a community band one night a week, or simply fans of music, our goal is for them to have a love and appreciation of music and the discipline of music-making. We also aim to develop students’ intrapersonal and interpersonal skills. Teamwork is a requirement for all facets of the band program. Each individual in the ensemble plays a vital role in the quality of the whole. We are in the business, however, of developing a life-long relationship with music in every student. Along the way we will also be providing and encouraging positive personal growth and interactions growth through the unique medium of music. The road towards these goals is very challenging, yet extremely rewarding. Only through positive effort on the part of everybody involved in the program can true excellence be achieved.

Message from the Booster Board
Welcome to all new and returning parents to the RHBB (Rock Hill High Band Boosters)! We are an incorporated, non-profit, tax-exempt organization that was created to support the entire band program at Rock Hill High School. The primary objective and purpose of RHBB, Inc. is to arouse and maintain an enthusiastic interest in band-related activities, to assist in fundraising activities, and to cooperate with school officials in creating a fun, memorable, and successful band music program. We also promote the ways and means of providing for the needs of the Rock Hill High School band program above and beyond those supplied by the Rock Hill School District Three School System.
If you are a new band parent, prepare for one of the most amazing, rewarding, fun, and life-enriching experiences you will have the opportunity to share with your child during his or her high school years! The memories and benefits your child can get from a positive experience in an organization such as the Rock Hill High School band program can last them a lifetime. In a large school like Rock Hill, where individual students can easily get lost in the shuffle of over two thousand students, the band program gives your child the opportunity to have many friends with common interests. Additionally, it is well known that students involved in arts education often excel in academics.
The success of the Rock Hill Band Program depends upon our commitment, time and resources. Our band directors, Mr. Fleischman, and Mr. Guzewicz, and their entire staff are multi-talented, hard-working, dedicated teachers and mentors to your child, but they depend upon the dedication and support of the band parent organization to continue the tradition of excellence exhibited by the bands of Rock Hill High School.
It takes a tremendous effort of volunteer support and, yes, a lot of money to run a highly competitive and nationally recognized band program. This year our budget for the entire band program is set at approximately $100,000, which includes marching band, three concert bands, jazz ensemble, indoor percussion and winter guard. We need many committee chairpersons and volunteers. We want and need your help!
